Benefits of CEREC Technology

Have you heard of CEREC? It is the newest addition to the Oakville Place Dental Office!

What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic. Essentially, the technology improves the design and creation of dental restorations/fillings to make your dental visit a smooth one. CEREC software takes a digital impression of the area being treated in just a couple of minutes. There is no need for gooey impressions traditionally used to obtain final impression for crowns, bridges or veneers. Not only can the traditional method be uncomfortable, but it can also take a couple of weeks for a dental lab to complete a crown once they’ve received the impression from the dentist. Dental impressions are the foundation for all restorative treatments. Digital impressions make it possible to create an impression and restore the dental area being treated in one appointment.

The Benefits of CEREC Technology

  • Restorations are convenient, quick and comfortable with CEREC. Making them in-house means there is no need for our patients to come back for multiple appointments. Patients appreciate not having to make multiple appointments to complete one treatment.
  • Patients no longer have to rely on temporary crowns that aren’t very reliable. CEREC eliminates the need for anything temporary because by the time you leave the dentist’s chair, all restorations should be permanent.
  • Digital impressions eliminate some of the labour work associated with traditional methods, reducing the possibility of human errors to occur.
  • The porcelain materials used for CEREC crowns are durable and can be matched to the natural shade of your teeth.
